Today, April 5, in Tibet is the annual sunning of the buddha. The lamas bring all the buddha statues out of the temples to enjoy the spring sunshine.
That’s all I know about the practice. I imagine that in times before Tibet’s subjugation to the Chinese it might have been a carnival-like scene.
Still, it’s a reminder that the soul needs to get out into the sun every now and then.
And today is as good a day to do that as any.
