My grandfather included two Goyas in a letter to his Hiram College classmates for their 1985 reunion. One of them was this “I Am Still Learning”, done sometime between 1824 and 1828, shown here courtesy of Wikiart.org. I’m pretty sure the story goes that the pictures weren’t included with the letter in the reunion publication. A disappointment.
It’s also included in a self-published valedictory book he distributed to family members. I got my copy (#5) when I graduated from Bates College.
I was reminded of it after spending a day sorting through some notes for a huge project, consulting with people more knowledgeable than me, and coming away with an acute sense of how far I’ve come, but also how much I still don’t know.
